Logo meaning
The blue-and-white roundel echoes the Bavarian state flag; the myth of it depicting a spinning propeller came from a later advertisement.
History
Bayerische Motoren Werke began as an aircraft-engine maker before moving to motorcycles and, from 1928, cars. It has since become a global benchmark for driver-focused luxury sedans and coupes, and the parent of MINI and Rolls-Royce.
